Trinity Health names Englehart to be the interim CEO of Mount Carmel Health System

Trinity Health today named Michael Englehart to be the interim chief executive officer for Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, effective July 25, 2019.

Englehart joined Trinity Health in August 2018 as senior vice president for medical groups and ambulatory strategy. In that role, he helps more than 7,800 physicians enhance the effectiveness of their practices while creating clinically integrated models of care and outpatient programs.
Prior to joining Trinity Health, Englehart was president and CEO of Presence Health in Chicago, one of the largest Catholic health systems in Illinois. In two years, he led Presence Health through a turnaround after several years of large operating losses and oversaw the merger of Presence Health into Ascension Health. Previous to that, he was president of Advocate Physician Partners, where he led one of the largest clinically integrated population health networks in the country with 4,900 physicians, 13 hospitals and $4B in revenue. He also has experience as a hospital CEO, serving as the CEO of Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Illinois.
Englehart holds a master of arts in organizational leadership from Lewis University, a master of business administration from Lake Forest Graduate School and a bachelor of arts in history from Northern Illinois University. He also holds a certification in project management from Harvard University, and Lean and Six Sigma Certification from Loyola University. Additionally, Englehart served on the board of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association. He and his wife Terri have four children.
