Interview with Rengena Chan-Ting to gain a perspective on what AAPI Heritage Month means to her.
How has your heritage shaped the person you are today and why is that important?
My heritage has helped shaped me into a geriatrician. You see in Confucian Chinese Buddhist ethics, filial piety is a virtue of respect for one’s parents, one’s elders, and ancestors, which consists of the provision of physical care, love, and respect. This filial piety has inspired me to study geriatrics and hospice and palliative care.
