Expressions of gratitude from patients, families, employees and anonymous donors inspire us to continue fostering and building a culture of philanthropy here at Trinity Health. For John and Carol Marshall, supporting St. Joseph's Health comes naturally.
The Marshalls grew up on Syracuse's North Side adjacent to the hospital. As a child, Carol admired her mother and aunts as they worked tirelessly on projects for the hospital Auxiliary. Wanting to follow in their generous footsteps, Carol volunteered as a candy striper when she was a young teenager.
After retiring from a long career as an educator, Carol now enjoys her role as a Lobby Ambassador at the hospital – just one of many volunteer roles she's served over the years. Additionally, Carol holds a leadership position as an Auxiliary of St. Joseph's Health Hospital board member.
John, a CPA, is one of the founders of the accounting firm Testone, Marshall and Discenza (which merged with The Bonadio Group in 2015) where he continues as a senior counsel on a part-time basis. Additionally, John currently serves as chair of the St. Joseph's Board of Trustees where he's been a board member since 2013 and formerly held the position of finance chair. He also serves on the St. Joseph's Foundation Board of Directors.
Beyond all of their time volunteering, the Marshalls also support St. Joseph's financially. "We support every fundraising effort they have," says John, "We're happy our donations support a faith-based provider of healthcare who is committed to providing better health care at a lower cost." Carol adds, "We are proud to contribute to the St. Joseph's legacy."
"St. Joseph's is a real gem," says John. "It's a community of brilliant and caring health professionals who are dedicated to providing the best health care to all in Central New York."
It is with incredible gratitude that we thank the Marshalls for all their time and financial contributions. They truly are devoted to our mission to serve together as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.
