Before starting work at FirstChoice, you need to complete a variety of important action items to ensure a smooth onboarding process. Use this page to guide you each step of the way.

New Hire Mandatory Processes

The following steps must be completed before you will be able to begin work.

Throughout the pre-employment process, most of our communication will come through email and/or text. Please watch for multiple emails/texts between now and your scheduled start date. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder.  If you prefer to connect via phone, we are readily available to arrange a time to walk you through the onboarding process and address any questions you might have. If this is your preferred method of communication, please let your onboarding team member know.  

FirstChoice is a member of Trinity Health. Some of the emails and communication you receive may come from Trinity Health.

Our communication timeline is as follows:

  • Your Background and Employment Verification will be completed through Sterling.
  • Watch for an email from NoReply@sterling.app and follow the instructions in the email provided. You will click on the link provided in the email, sign the electronic consent forms and complete the data collection requirements.
  • Please ensure that you complete the process requirements within 2 business days of receiving the email from NoReply@sterling.app. Your start date is linked to the completion of the steps provided.
  • Important: You may be asked to provide employment history through the data-collection process. The employment history investigation can be significantly shortened if a legitimate e-mail address for your employers is provided along with a supervisor or HR name.
  • Also, if you were working for a temporary agency, please provide that contact information rather than the company you were placed with.
  • If you have any questions or need technical assistance, please contact Sterling toll-free at 1-833-780-7902 ext 2003 (please ensure you use this phone number and extension when calling Sterling). You can also email Sterling for support at: CandidateSupport_Tier1B@sterlingcheck.com
  • This step will be completed in Workday (Candidate).
  • All 3 tasks (Offer letter, SSN, Personal Information) must be fully completed before we will be able to proceed. These tasks must be completed within 24-48 hours of offer or your start date may be affected.

  • For technical assistance, please contact the HR Service Center at 877-750-4748 option 3.
  • If your position requires specific education, licensure or certification, we will reach out to you via email to request proof.
  • Please monitor your email and respond quickly to any request that is sent.
  • All certifications must be valid throughout your Long Term Agreement
    • If any of your certifications will be expiring prior to your assignment end date please provide a receipt for your scheduled re-certification class
  • NOTE: At this time Trinity Health accepts AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS

Trinity Health strongly encourages all colleagues to get vaccinated against flu and COVID.

  • Prior to start, in order to clear the Onboarding process
    • Current Season COVID and Influenza documentation must be provided to your Talent Acquisition Coordinator/Onboarding team member.
    • Documentation is defined as either proof of receiving vaccination or completion of a Vaccine Declination and/or Exemption.
      • Colleagues who work in Fresno County, California or in the State of Illinois are required to either receive the annual flu vaccine or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
      • Colleagues who work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are required to receive the annual COVID vaccine or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
  • Your Employee Health Appointment is an assessment that includes a review of the functional requirements of the position, a urine drug screen, and a blood draw = all provided at no cost to you.
  • You will need to bring to your appointment:
    • Immunization records.
    • Valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Please select your assigned staffing Program from either the National or Regional FirstChoice colleague Employee Health Requirements tab, which are list as the tabs selections following this one. You will be provided information on how to complete your employee health requirements.
  • FirstChoice Colleague categories:
    • National FirstChoice Colleagues (those that are eligible for long term assignments at Trinity sites all over the country)
    • Regional FirstChoice Colleagues (those that provide regional resources, per diem and long term assignments, to local ministries)
  • National FirstChoice Colleages complete Employee Health Requirements through our 3rd party vendor – Sterling.
  • You will receive an email notification from noreply@sterling.app 
  • Please provide your medical records to STERLING within 24-48 business hours for the following documents
    • Physical within 1 year of START date
    • Ishihara Color Vision Test
    • 2-step PPD/TSPOT/QuantiFeron Gold within 1 year of START date
    • Fit Test within 1 year of START date
    • TDaP vaccine within 10 years of START date
    • Proof of Vaccines or immunity for:
      • MMR: Measles (aka Rubeola), Mumps & Rubella (2 vaccines or titers stating immunity)
      • Hep B (3 vaccines or titer stating Immunity)
      • Varicella (proof of disease, 2 vaccines or titer stating immunity)
      • COVID/Flu
      • If you are submitting a COVID/Flu Declination/ Exemption, please see prior listed COVID/Flu Declination/ Exemption Process Instructions.
  • Anything NOT provided will be ordered for you through STERLING.
  • NOTE: Lab results can take 7-10 business days to be reported, you will not be cleared to start your assignment until the results are reported to us.
  • Your Health screening registration Expires 4 business days from the date issued.
  • You must complete the Pre-Employment Health appointment before or the Thursday that is 2 weeks prior to your start date)
  • Please Note: Failure to complete the appointment by the date listed above will result in your start date being pushed
  • Please note – some Ministries may require additional Employee Health documentation than listed above, if this is the case, the services will be ordered through Sterling.
  • As you complete these mandatory pre-hire processes, we will do everything on our end to get you started on schedule.
  • You will be notified via a Clearance Email once you are cleared and approved to start work.
  • This email will include your orientation schedule.
    • Orientation is completed online using your own computer at home. If you do not have a computer, please notify your Employment Specialist so other arrangements can be made.
  • If for any reason you are not cleared to start before the deadline, we will notify you via email and let you know next steps.
  • This step will be completed in Workday (Employee).
  • You must be hired into the Workday system before you will be able to complete this step. You will receive new login information once your employee account has been created.
  • First, you’ll need to activate your account. You will receive two (2) automated emails from Trinity Health with your username and temporary password. This may take up to five (5) business days after you sign your offer letter.
  • Once you login, please complete all the onboarding tasks available to you.
    • Please note that as you complete certain tasks, more tasks may appear.
    • Please note that you may experience difficulty accessing the tasks if you are not on the Trinity Network, if this occurs please complete tasks when you arrive onsite.

    • If you are a rehire, you will receive an email with your username information from your leader.
