Vaccinating the American public against COVID-19 will be the greatest public health feat of our lifetime; and it will only be successful if hospitals and health systems collaborate with government to fill our country's public health void. Broad acceptance of the vaccines is critical to the nation’s COVID-19 response and to re-engaging in public activities.

Trinity Health’s commitment to vaccinating our communities furthers our quest to support the common good. To date, we've provided nearly 330,000 doses which equates to about 1 percent of all vaccine doses administered in the United States. Recognizing some people are hesitant to be vaccinated, Trinity Health is investing $1 million to promote vaccinations in vulnerable communities with a focus on communities of color. I recently had the honor of presenting Trinity Health’s COVID-19 vaccination experience to a Capitol Hill audience. I shared barriers to moving faster including an unclear line of sight into vaccine supply chains that makes it difficult to schedule vaccine clinics. Congress can help to expedite vaccine administration by creating certainty and transparency into the vaccine supply chain, equipping public health to develop vaccination plans, and addressing vaccine hesitancy.
