Hundreds of front-line colleagues and caregivers across Trinity Health received the resources they needed to fight COVID-19, thanks to the actions of advocates.

For the past 18 months, Trinity Health advocates have focused on stimulating congressional action toward Public Health. In March 2021, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan, a bill that included supplies to bolster the nation's COVID-19 response including but not limited to:

  • additional resources for treatment,
  • personal protective equipment,
  • testing and contact tracing,
  • expansion of Medicaid programs and
  • funding for mental health and substance use disorders.

With an overall goal to ensure a sustainable public health system, Advocates continued work with policymakers in both the Biden Administration and in Congress, to address the current pandemic while planning responses to future public health emergencies.

"Grassroots engagement helps us band together and raise the voice of the people," said Beth Wyman, MPH, RD, provider engagement consultant at St. Peter's Health Partners. "Together our voices are loud enough to make a change. Engaging in advocacy through Trinity Health makes me feel like I can make a difference."

Advocacy leaders across Trinity Health agree, and continue their relentless quest to obtain the proper public health support needed to ensure a sustainable public health system for all.
