Issues and Priorities
How we care for the common good
Everyone should have access to high-quality, comprehensive health care – this is our truth. And it's why we advocate for public policies that promote care for the common good.
When we say we are a Ministry of people caring for people, we mean the more than 30 million people, across the 26 states of our health care delivery system serves.
We accept that to improve the health of the communities we serve, we need to advance fair payment, a strong workforce, coverage for all that bridges clinical and social care, and new payment models.
Our leaders, colleagues, and stakeholders are dedicated to influencing public policies and regulatory issues to ensure we improve the health of each person we serve – especially our most vulnerable – so that we will continue to be – the most trusted health partner for life.
We are committed to using our voice because:
Fair Payment Sustains the Mission
The majority of health systems are operating in the red; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement should reflect cost of delivering care.
Strong Workforce Delivers Mission-Centered Care
We are in the midst of a health care staffing crisis; pipeline growth and support for innovative care delivery models is needed.
Coverage and Social Care are Mission Critical
Eliminating health disparities and improving community health can be accomplished by bridging social and clinical care.
New Payment Models Advance the Mission
Patient out-of-pocket health care spend can be minimized with the advancement of reimbursement models that create provider accountability and keep the premium dollar closest to the patient.
